On August 28, Guangzhou CTG Wave Chasing Super Park (hereinafter referred to as "the Park") successfully acquired 7.74 acres of land for its Phase I.

Invested and developed by China Travel Group, this project is the first complex positioned as "surf + urban living" in the Greater Bay Area. After the land acquisition, development and construction will be fully advanced to establish two major scenarios: short-distance vacations within the three-hour metropolitan circle and routine weekend leisure, creating a new landmark for surfing in South China and making "coastal holiday right at your doorstep" a reality.

Technology empowerment

Creation of an all-age-friendly "surf+" complex

The park is located in the core area of the CBD in Huadu District, adjacent to Sunac Cultural Tourism City, the Park will cover a total area of about 100,000㎡ (24.71 acres), which will be divided into three main business sectors: surfing, commercial, and hotels & apartments, to satisfy the needs of customers of all ages.

The land acquired for Phase I this time is located east of Furong Avenue and north of Huadu Avenue, which is designated for sports and entertainment use, with a total land area of 31,612.41 square meters and a buildable land area of 31,612.41 square meters.

Unlike traditional water parks, the project adopts internationally advanced 48-air chamber two-way wave making technology in the construction of an artificial surf pool of about 20,000 square meters, which will be divided into multi-level wave zones and respective experience routes to realize "freedom of surfing all year round."

In addition to surf pools for hosting international competitions, the project also plans a 12,500-square-meter trendy commercial street and a themed accommodation cluster, integrating family entertainment, sports socializing, and nighttime economy to meet diverse visitor needs.

Linking business formats

Strengthening the dual IP of "ice and snow + surfing."

As a key project of Huadu District to promote the integration of culture, commerce, tourism, and sports, the Park is only 1 kilometer from Bonski. The two will work together to form the "skiing + surfing" dual IP of trendy sports. The completion of the project will make Huadu a provider of "four-season ice and snow + four-season surfing" extreme sports experiences, breaking the seasonal limitations of traditional tourism.

The landing of the Park indicates a profound value reconstruction for Huadu's cultural tourism industry: evolving from sightseeing to immersive experiences, from mass traffic to community stickiness, and from single-point check-in site to full-area collaboration.

Once completed and operational, the Park will link key projects such as Guangzhou International Commercial Port, CTG · Aranya · Jiulong Lake, Xiuhu Lake, and Huadu Sports Park, to effectively convert the "air-rail transit traffic" of Baiyun Airport and Guangzhou North Station into "retained traffic" and "increment" for urban consumption.

Integrating tourism and sports

Building a multi-dimensional sports consumption matrix in the Bay Area

In the future, Guangzhou CTG Wave Chasing Super Park will work in synergy with Huadu's existing ice and snow sector and water sector to form a multi-dimensional sports consumption matrix of "year-round ski resorts + four-season surfing + open water paddleboarding" that can achieve "three-board linkage" of skiboard, surfboard, and paddleboard, linking diverse scenarios for sports, events, and cultural tourism, and breaking seasonal constraints to continuously enrich the year-round cultural and sports supply.

The project is planned and constructed according to standards of top international events organized by the World Surf League (WSL), and designed to balance public leisure experience with professional event functions. In the future, it may help promote the popularization of domestic surfing culture through the sports event economy and empower the development of trendy sports, cultural tourism, and related industries.

In the next phase, Huadu District will leverage its advantages as an air-rail hub and its ecological resources, adhere to the principle of "strengthening industries through industry and commerce, and expanding domestic demand through cultural tourism.” By relying on key projects such as Guangzhou CTG Wave Chasing Super Par, the District will attract trendy visitors from the world, create a new brand of city vitality, and strive to build a micro-vacation destination and an important international tourism destination in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
